In 2002 Allen graduated with a B.A. in Applied Health Sciences from the University of Waterloo Co-Operative Program (Co-Op). An interest to the field of occupational therapy was fostered through exposer to the profession during clinical placements at rehabilitation hospitals, long term care centers, and community treatment centers. Allen went on to obtain his Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Western Ontario in 2004. Allen joined Rehab Results Inc. in 2006 after working at a large disability management company.
Over the course of the past decade, Allen has worked with clients of all ages and variety of clinical conditions, including acquired brain injury, orthopaedic, psychological, and chronic pain conditions. He holds certification in Impairment and Disability Rating through the American Board of Forensic Professionals, as a Functional Abilities Evaluator, Progressive Goal Attainment Program (PGAP) provider, and Brain360 FX provider. He has developed expertise in discharge planning, in-home assessment, ergonomic assessment, functional restoration programs, functional abilities evaluations, jobsite/physical demands analysis, and assistive device prescription. Areas of clinical interest include ongoing skill development for assessment and treatment for cognitive impairment and neurological conditions. A career highlight was recruitment to provide services on a consult basis in the Canadian Artic.
Outside of a clinical setting, Allen enjoys spending time with his family. His interests and hobbies included music, sailing, golfing, and skiing.
